CISD plans district safety day

A district-wide safety day is scheduled for Aug. 26. In addition to fire and tornado drills, schools will also conduct lock out and lock down drills.  Lock outs are used in the event there is a potential threat outside of the school, such as a police chase. In this case, all students will be locked inside the school building and all outside doors are locked. No one will be allowed to enter or leave the building. During lock down, students rush to the nearest classroom, all lights are turned out and teachers lock the doors. Lock downs are used in the event there is potential threat inside the school. The drills will take place at all CISD schools Aug. 26 throughout the school day.
