Society overreacts to Ebola

Everyone is very aware of the recent Ebola cases in Dallas. In fact, it is the only medical issue most people in the United States are concerned with. It is constantly discussed, and always worried about. Whether its walking down the halls, or taking a stroll through the park, talk of Ebola is prevalent everywhere. Any news station in the U.S., be it local or national, will run at least one or two stories every day over it. Is all this attention really necessary?

Ebola is something to be concerned about, no doubt. It has about a 50 percent death rate, and has killed more than 4,500 people in West Africa. Although these numbers are alarming, Americans must keep things in perspective. We live in a country that is statistically proven to be the most medically advanced in the world. There are professional doctors at the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) who are working hard to make sure this does not get out of control.

Because we live in the United States, there is nothing to worry about. It is important to keep things in perspective, and not panic or overreact.
