Loved substitute, former assistant principal passes away

Randall High school students and faculty said goodbye to permanent substitute and former assistant principal Linda Cobb April 26.

Ms. Cobb graduated from Amarillo High School in 1965. After completing the requirements for teacher certification from West Texas State University, Ms. Cobb began a teaching career for Canyon Independent School district. Loved by students and teachers alike, she earned several honors while in the classroom, including the chance to be a delegate for CISD at the NEA convention in Louisville, KY in 1986. Ms. Cobb shined as an administrator in CISD. She began her work at Canyon High School, but she moved to Randall when it opened in 1988. While at Randall, Ms. Cobb was able to be both a tough administrator and a kind leader for teachers and students alike. She will be remembered as a wise and reassuring presence for the teachers and staff at Randall High School. Her career in education spanned more than four decades, and she has touched the lives of thousands of students with her kind heart and ability to motivate reluctant learners.

Her services will be at 4:15 p.m. tomorrow in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Jo Roberts Mann officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Instead of flowers, her family requests donations to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School’s financial assistance fund to aid students in economic need who desire to attend St. Andrew’s.
