Driving around looking at Christmas lights is an easy cheap date during the holiday season.

After Silver Ball, there really aren’t many fun or romantic holiday options for couples. Since Amarillo isn’t exactly a winter wonderland, options are limited, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be fun.

When the West Texas wind is not rearing its ugly head, and the weather is not below freezing, a nice walk around McDonald Lake on Coulter is an easy and free way of going out with your date while also working off those Christmas cookies.

Another way to go out and make the season bright is to pick a neighborhood and look at Christmas lights. Maybe grab a cup of Hot Chocolate to stay warm on the trip. You could even draw up a scavenger hunt and whoever finds the most items wins.

Go gift shopping together. Even if one of you or neither of you are shoppers, you could still look online.

Write letters to Santa. You’re never too old to be a kid, and Christmas makes everyone feel young again. This could also help you decide what to buy each other if you don’t know what to get.

Watch Holiday movies. They can be sappy, lame, and pointless, but they’re fun and they make the season.

Leave a Pay-It-Forward gift somewhere for someone. A great way of being thankful for what you have can be shown by sharing your blessings with others. Plus it can make someone else’s day better.
