Senior to play baseball at University of Arkansas

Stepping up to the plate, he takes a deep breath. As the pitcher winds up to throw the baseball, he thinks about his swing. With a determined look on his face, he swings and the ball goes soaring into the air.

Senior Heston Kjerstad signed to play college baseball at the University of Arkansas and plans on majoring in business. Major league baseball coaches have been scouting Heston recently at some Randall baseball games. Heston said he began playing baseball when he was four years old.

“One of my goals is to play in the major leagues,” Heston said. “I don’t have a specific team I want to play for. My other goal is to have a successful career in whatever my job is in the future.”

Heston said his favorite memory from high school baseball was being able to win the district title back to back years during his sophomore and junior years. Heston also added his parents are his biggest inspiration.

“I would not be where I am today if it was not for my parents sacrificing for me,” Heston said.
