Red moon returns

On September 28, 2015 a Total Lunar Eclipse will be visible in various parts of the world, it is the fourth and final eclipse in a series of four total Lunar Eclipses that is called a Lunar Tetrad. When a Lunar Eclipse occurs the moon turns a red color and has gotten the nickname “blood moon” because of the crimson tint. There is some debate between pastors and astronomers about the biblical meaning behind these eclipses, the theory they are talking about is called the Blood-red theory. All four of these eclipses occur during certain Jewish festivals. The first eclipse, April 15, 2014, and the third, April 4, 2015, took place during Passover. The second one, October 8, 2014, and the upcoming eclipse take place during the Feast of Tabernacles. Some pastors are saying this coincidence is a sign of the end of times.

In the bible it talks of a prophecy saying “The Sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood before the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes” Joel 2:31.This does describe the sky during a Lunar eclipse, but it also describes a Solar eclipse as well. When the sun turns to darkness during a solar eclipse the moon is directly between the sun and the earth, and when the moon turns to blood the earth is directly between the sun and the moon in a total Lunar eclipse. The number of tetrad occurrences during the centuries range from several to none. During the 21st Century (2001-2100) there will be a total of 8 tetrads that occur, but in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries no eclipses happened. From the 1st Century (AD 1-100) all the way through the 21st century there have been a total of 62 tetrads, and only 8 of them have occurred on a Jewish Festival. The timing of these eclipses and the Jewish calendar is unusual, but not unprecedented so it is no proof that Jesus will return. In Mark 13:32 it says “About that day or hour no one knows” Meaning no one will be able to predict the day Jesus will supposedly come back. The blood-red moon theory is very interesting, but it is just that- a theory.
