A take on The Giver
The Giver is a new movie that is based off the novel by Lois Lowry. Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) lives in a colorless society of sameness. In his community the elders decide everything that goes on, what careers people will have, what they wear, who their kids will be and even their food. Jonas gets singled out to become the Receiver of Memory, he will hold all of the memories of mankind before sameness in order to council and give wisdom to the elders. The Giver (Jeff Bridges) will transfer these memories to Jonas showing both the horrors and the beauty of our present day world. Director Phillip Noyce told the timeless story in a very simple way, showing the importance of diversity and emotions; love and hate. The casting for this movie was excellent, all the characters portrayed who they were supposed to be and made viewers really feel for the people and what is happening to them. In comparison to the book a lot of things that were different but it made things more suspenseful, making it a more exciting experience. Overall I would give this movie 3 stars and I would recommend for anyone to go and watch it.
