Student Council’s canned food drive to benefit the High Plains Food Bank has been extended to run until Friday Nov. 18.
Cans and any other non perishable items such as Roman Noodles, Hamburger Helper, pasta, rice and beans can be donated.
Student Council members will collect cans and any other non-perishable items during activity period all next week. The top three homeroom classes who collect the most ounces will win a party. First place will receive chicken minis from Chick-Fil-A. Second place will win pizza and third period will receive donuts.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be double ounce day. The winning classes will be announced Friday afternoon and parties will be the following Thursday.
The High Plains Food Bank’s mission is to alleviate hunger in the Texas Panhandle. In 2010, they delivered more than seven million pounds of food to the 29 county area.
Student Council members hope to collect 3500 pounds of food over the course of next week.
