The spring semester is full of activities including sports such as track, baseball and soccer; however, sport teams are not the only teams gearing up to compete. Academic UIL teams, including ready writing, journalism, mathematics, speech, social studies, technology and science teams have begun practicing to compete against other schools in the state. Beginning Feb. 9 at the invitational meet hosted on campus, academic UIL participants will compete regularly. Beginning with the district contest, students have the opportunity to make it all the way to the state level. Slots are currently opening up for students to begin practicing for competitive positions. Anyone interested should talk to their English, science, math, journalism or speech teachers to begin practicing.
