Assistant Principal reminds underclassmen to keep away from student parking lots
Last week, assistant Principal Rachel Harris reminded students that “hanging out” in the student parking lot and sitting in parked cars during lunch and before school is prohibited. She also said that freshmen and sophomores are not to be behind the school or in the parking lots at any time during lunch.
Some students such as freshman Alex Yowell and sophomore Desirea Connors are upset about the rule claiming it is “stupid”. Connors has a driver’s license and a RHS parking permit.
“I want to sit in my car (during lunch),” Conners said. “I like my privacy.”
However, Harris said there is a reason for the rule.
“Too much can happen in an area that does not have adequate supervision,” Harris said. “We want the students in the specified areas so that they are easier to monitor and keep safe.”
