Last week, students competed in the UIL Regional Academic meet in Abilene. The results are as follows:

Justine Yohn placed 5^th in Headline Writing

Chris Jackson placed 3^rd in LD Debate

Annie Freeman placed 2^nd in Spelling and Vocabulary

Kelli Blashill placed 2^nd in Ready Writing

Trisha Giromini placed 1^st in Computer Applications

State qualifiers are Chris Jackson, Trisha Giromini, Annie Freeman and Kelli Blashill. The state meet will be at the University of Texas in Austin May 19-21.

“Randall did great,” UIL Academic Coordinator Ms. Venhaus said. “We had five students place, and four of them qualified for state. Last year we didn’t have any students qualify for state. Regional competition is tough, so the amount of success we receive varies from year to year. Four students qualifying for the state meet is more than we have had in at least five years.”
