Police prep
There has been a recent decline of local Randall High students involved in the Randall County police student academy in the past few years, and many of their current applicants are coming from various schools across Amarillo and Canyon. The Randall County police department would like to see more involvement from Randall High students interested in becoming police officers.
The academy is a 13 week program designed to serve students in the area with the goals, objectives, organizational structure and general operating procedures of the Sheriff’s office. Students are allowed hands on experiences as well as various lessons to better their knowledge on the basics of becoming apart of the police academy. Participants are also given the opportunity to do ride alongs with officers when available. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age, must live within the county lines, and must agree to undergo a background check. The academy will begin classes on October 3rd from 6:00-9:30 p.m, and will meet every Tuesday following. For more information on this program you can visit Officer Slaton in the West front office, contact Officer Cody Jones at 468-5880, or visit the Randall County Police department,
