Seasonal spirit supplied by a spooky holiday; Students excite in preparation for the Halloween season
Fall hallmarks the beginning of many things, such as brisk weather, pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks, and the impending holiday, beloved by many, Halloween. This season is one that students often get excited for, as the costume parties, haunted houses, and the average daily temperature drops 20-30 degrees all are Fall events that students enjoy.
The inclusion of the Halloween holiday in the Fall season is considered by several to be the main event that they get excited for. Unlike most holidays it is one that is usually celebrated with one’s closest friends and that makes it something that can make it interesting and fun to many.
“I like Halloween,” senior Joseph Sharpee said. “It’s a time to get together with friends, not family. It’s just a lot of fun to spend time with friends on Halloween.”
Groups of friends that spend time together leading up to and on Halloween have seasonal events to participate in around Amarillo. Amarillo has five or more haunted houses scattered around the town, and plenty of less scary alternatives, such as the Amazingly Fun Farm.
“My favorite haunted house is Amarillo Scaregrounds,” senior Eric Sanchez said. “It has three completely different haunted houses in one, each with its unique scares.”
On top of the haunted houses and events around Amarillo, many students host their own Halloween parties that they invite their friends to. No doubt for students that enjoy the holiday, they are provided with much to do in celebration.
“I’m hyped for Halloween,” Sanchez said. “I love going to the haunted houses and parties around that time. Halloween makes it much easier to find something to do when you’re out with your friends.”
