Cheerleaders to Host Youth Cheer Clinic
The Randall cheerleaders will host a cheer clinic Oct. 16 for students in kindergarten through 6th grade.
Participants will learn to cheer and chant, and will also learn a dance in which they will perform at both Randall and Kimbrough Stadium.
The cost to participate is $35 and includes a t-shirt, pom poms, digital picture, snack, and the participant’s entrance into the game. Those who wish to participate are encouraged to complete the registration form. The deadline to register is Oct. 9. The money raised from this event will help pay for some of the expenses the Randall cheer squad incurs throughout the year.
“The funds are used for supplies such as uniforms, bows, snacks and mums and camp and competition,” Randall cheer coach Tarran West said.
One of those competitions is the UIL State Spirit Championships tentatively scheduled for Jan. 17 in Fort Worth. While the funds raised from the cheer clinic will help with the Randall squad’s travel expenses, West said she hopes the clinic will also encourage young girls to inspire to become high school cheerleaders.
“(We want) to help younger kids see what cheer has to offer and allow our mini cheerleaders to be a part of the Raider community,” West said. “We hope to instill Raider Pride in them.”
