What’s For Lunch? Juniors and Seniors Pick Their Favorite Nearby Fast Food Establishments

The Sonic, located on Bell, is among one of the popular lunch time food establishments for Randall students.

As the lunch bell rings, juniors and seniors spill out of the Randall parking lot, headed for their favorite lunch time spots. Popeye’s, Sonic and McDonald’s are among some of the nearby, popular choices for a quick bite to eat.

Popeye’s chicken sandwich was one of the popular options when it first came out. In fact, it was so popular that they managed to sell out of the sandwich. Sonic is well known for their drinks, but some students crave their mozzarella sticks even more.

“I love chicken,” junior Larah Norris said. “I didn’t start going to Popeye’s until their chicken sandwich came out. It’s so good. I understand why they ran out. They really do have the best chicken sandwich. It’s good, and it’s fast, so I (go there so I) won’t be late for sixth period.”

With the expansion of the loop, many students were disappointed when the nearby McDonald’s had to temporarily close their doors and rebuild. When the new McDonald’s opened, it was the first place junior Kat Zuniga went.

“It’s just easy,” Zuniga said. “You only have to take like two turns and you’re already in line to get your nuggets. It’s a lot faster than Whataburger. I don’t go (to Whataburger) for lunch for that reason; I like knowing I’m going to be on time for my next class.”

McDonald’s is also a favorite lunchtime spot for junior Brooklyn Taylor.

“If I don’t go to McDonald’s, I go to Sonic for cheese sticks or something to drink,” Taylor said. “It’s fast and it’s honestly the place everyone goes to, without a doubt.”
