When To Service Your Vehicle And How Much Will It Cost
“A quart of braking fluid should cost about $8, brake pads about $90 for a pair and wheels around $250 each,” Scott Gilmore, Former Owner of Diesel House Motorsports said. “To me, it’s a fair market price.”
With many Randall students driving, how do you know when it’s time to maintenance your automobile and how much will it cost?
Braking Fluid
With inflation, the current price of a quart of braking fluid has raised with the average cost being somewhere between $10 and $20. The inflated rate won’t necessarily break the bank considering on average you only change your brake fluid every two years or 30,000 miles. If you have shorter routes with frequent braking; however, then you might need to change your braking fluid more often.
Brake Pads
Brake pads are just as important as any other part of a car. They are one of the core components in a braking system. A pair of brake pads for either front or back wheels are about $90. If your brake pads are faulting or not in good condition then you can have fun being told “you can’t park there” after smashing into a wall. Your brake pads should be changed between every 10,000 or 20,000 miles, and you should know it is time to change them when you hit the brakes and hear a horrible screeching sound. That would be either your brakes pads being worn down to the metal, or they are not oiled properly.
Wheels
If you are replacing all four of the wheels on a car or truck, it would cost you about $1,000. That is a lot of money. You should change your wheels around every six years. You should also change them if they are compromised, can’t retain air or are worn down.
