The Randall Raiders fell to 1-7 Friday with a loss to the Caprock Longhorns at Dick Bivens Stadium.
The Longhorns and district 3-4A leading rusher Jamar Johnson led 25-0 at halftime, but the Raiders attempted to mount another dramatic comeback, pulling within two touchdowns late in the game. Randall gained momentum when Bret Scheve returned an interception for a 57-yard touchdown and the Raiders went on to cap two drives with Brice Ballard touchdowns, but it was too little too late as the Longhorns still won comfortably.
Randall quarterback Hunter Alford completed just five out of 14 passes for 74 yards, although second string quarterback Jordan Smith completed four out of five passes and broke a 51-yard run. Ballard ran for 64 yards on 20 carries and Scheve led the Raiders with four receptions.
The Raiders will look to keep their playoff hopes alive as they square off with district rival Canyon Friday night at Kimbrough Stadium.
