The two-time defending state champion Raider wrestling team captured a victory at Raider Duels Saturday, defeating Garden City High School 42-27.
Despite trailing six matches into the duel, Coach David Quirino and the Raiders were able to come back for a convincing win. 2009 state champions Michiel Roberts and Jace Bennett both won their respective matches. However, two-time state champion Victor Dotson was defeated by Joey Dozier of Garden City. Chris Thompson was able to secure the win for the Raiders with a clutch reverse on Anthony Calderon.
The team will travel to Kansas City looking for another win in the Toshiba Tournament Dec. 17-20.
