The No. 2 ranked Lady Raiders volleyball playoff run ended Thursday at the state meet in Austin, Texas.
The Raiders fell short to No. 3 ranked Richardson Pearce in the four set match up 25-17, 26-24, 12-25, 25-21.
The Raiders who were already behind 2 matches to 1, trailed 20-13 in the fourth set. When hopes of advancing to the state finals appeared dim, the Raiders came close to pulling off a comeback, scoring a quick 7-1 points. However, after the referee inadvertently blew her whistle during what would have been the game-tying point, the Raiders momentum came to a hault and Richardson Pierce advanced to compete for the state title.
