With NCAA football coming to a close this week, two teams finished their season with perfect records. Notre Dame finished 12-0, and is currently ranked 1st in the BCS standings. Ohio State also finished 12-0 and is unranked due to NCAA rule violations. They are also ineligible for post season play.
The Buckeyes were punished for many rule violations that involved players selling jerseys, championship rings, and awards. Head coach Jim Tressel attempted to cover up the scandal, and claimed to not know anything about it; however, it was later discovered he did know, and he resigned.
Urban Meyer, in his first year as head coach of Ohio State, led the team to an undefeated season, but his season ends there. There will be no post season play for the Buckeyes.
Notre Dame will play in the post season, however. Despite early doubts about Notre Dame’s ability to last throughout the season, they fought through a tough schedule, and even defeated #8 Oklahoma. They will likely go on to play in the BCS National Championship game.
