Varsity football team to compete for area title Saturday
The varsity football team will play Canutillo El Paso for the area playoff game this Saturday in Odessa. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m.
Head Coach Bryan Wood said the team is preparing for this game the same way they’ve prepared all year.
“The only difference is that since it is a Saturday game, we will have a really short, light practice on Monday,” Wood said. “That will hopefully keep our guys fresh and it gives them an extra 24 hours to recover from last week’s game. That is very important at this stage in the game because this time of year we are pretty banged up.”
This game comes after a bi-district win this past Friday against Lake View High School at the Mustang Bowl in Andrews. Randall defeated Lake View 42-10.
“It feels awesome to get a playoff win, especially after our first round loss last year,” Wood said. “Our kids are playing really well and that makes it extremely fun. To be playing football this time of year is exactly why the kids put in all the work during the offseason. It’s great to see them rewarded for all their hard work.”
