Varsity Baseball Update
The varsity baseball team began their district season on March 17 with a total of nine wins, and two losses. The Raiders fell short two points in their first match-up with the Dumas Demons on March 17, with a final score of 5-3. Kicking off the district season with a loss might seem discouraging, but the Raider’s quickly bounced back the following evening by defeating Dumas 7-1. The Raider’s then competed against the Caprock Longhorns on March 24 at Randall High School. The Raiders also competed against Canyon, and Hereford during late March, and early April.
The Raiders typically play district games on Tuesday and Friday afternoons around 5:00 p.m. depending on weather, and other various factors that allow them to reschedule for Saturday mornings.
The Raiders will further their district season against the Amarillo High Sandies, who were recently added to the district, on April 14 at Randall. Amarillo High has been known to be one of Randall’s top rivals for many years, and a win or loss could determine if Randall advances to regionals, area, and state later in the spring. The Raiders have the chance of winning four more district games against another newly added district competitor the Plainview Bulldogs on April 18. On April 21, the Raiders will wrap up the 2017 district season against the Palo Duro Dons at Randall.
