Golf Team Celebrates With End Of Year Banquet
The golf team celebrated the end of the season with their end of the year banquet last night. At the event, which was held at Tascosa Country Club, the boys ate dinner and celebrated their 7th place state finish. Coach Ben Gilliland spoke about his team and how excited he is to see the seniors move on to the next chapter in their life. Gilliland passed out five awards. Most Improved went to freshman Luke Blackwell who at the start of the year was shooting in the 50s for qualifying but now is shooting in the 30s to 40s. The Fighting Raider Award went to freshmen twins, Evan and Owen Reynolds, who fought hard all year and qualified for regionals. The Academic Honors Award went to freshman Luke Blackwell who is ranked third in his class. The Mickelson Leadership Award went to senior Stetson Provence who Gilliland described as a player who pushed both himself and his teammates to be better. The final award for the night was the MVP Award. This award went to senior Caden Conrad for having the best scoring average with a 74.06.
