During the holidays, the crisp, frigid air is always filled with Christmas cheer, bustling last minute shoppers and eager children awaiting their presents. However, some underprivileged kids are only wishing for gifts, regretfully knowing they won’t be received. Many years ago, there was an ambitious woman who saw these children and decided someone should finally do something about it. Now, her project, known as the Eveline Rivers foundation, is one of the most popular charity services in Amarillo.
The Eveline Rivers Christmas Project is devoted to making sure the less fortunate are provided with gifts and coats. This organization was founded over 20 years ago and has climbed to the top as a successful charity in the state of Texas. The volunteer activities include sorting gently used clothing and coats and fitting children for coats. In the gift wrapping process, one would have to build, package and wrap boxes and cut wrapping paper. Other activities include stuffing newsletters, assembling new bikes or repairing gently used bikes, general clean up, and of course delivery of gifts.
Volunteers are able to offer their services until December 10th, from 7 PM to 9 PM. The delivery date is December 12th, and there will be a free toy giveaway on December 13th. For those wanting to make a little kids Christmas a merry one, this might be the opportunity.
