This month, members from our choir went and competed at the TMEA All-Region Choir Auditions. This is a part of the All-State process to help decide the top singers in the state.
It all started back in September when they auditioned for the District choir. Over 60 students audition for each category (Small School Bass, Tenor, Alto, and Soprano, and Large School Bass 1&2, Tenor 1&2, Alto 1&2, and Soprano 1&2) out of which the top 32 from each category made the cut. These students from each category were eligible to move on to the Region round where they audition for a second time, and in this round only the top 20 from each category are taken. These top 20 make up the All-Region Choir, representing the best voices from the Panhandle area.
The All-Region Choir will perform a concert at WT, showcasing their outstanding choral and vocal abilities. Before the concert, these students have an all day clinic at WT where they get to work with people such as the choir director from Texas Christian University and other talented people from the choir world.
These students will go on to compete at the next round, Pre-Area, to continue on their journey to All-State on November 30.
