Toryn Barrientos, Junior
Fans scream as players go head to head fighting for a volleyball title.
This is how junior Toryn Barrientos spends her time. Barrientos lives in the world of volleyball as she plays for not only the Randall Varsity team but also for her club AEV team. She is a defensive specialist on both teams, meaning she is the back passer who passes to the setter.
Barrientos has been playing volleyball since she was little and has been involved with programs such as Kids Inc. and Jet Volleyball which has aided her through her years at Westover Park and is now helping her to play for Randall.
“I love how the sport is so competitive,” Barrientos said. “My team and I have really been battling for the championship title.”
Currently, the Randall volleyball team is undefeated. With high competitiveness, the games get pretty rowdy with fans cheering for their teams on both sides of the courts.
“I think we have a shot at making it to state this year,” Barrientos said.
Juggling club and school volleyball, Barrientos also finds the time to be an empowering leader for the Randall campus. She is involved in a Leadership class.
“I really enjoy taking the class because the class helps me to become a better leader for the people around me,” Barrientos said. ” My leadership will lead me and my team to great places.”
