Isabelle Van Niekerk, Freshman
“I’m most passionate about learning and reading, specifically,” freshman Isabelle Van Niekerk said. “I love reading books and dissecting the characters and plots in books. I like to see how the stories and lessons can be applied to my daily life. I read the ‘Oddysey’ and the ‘Illiad’ and I thought it was really interesting how many lessons there were and how many perspectives and thoughts there were. I thought it was interesting to learn about these different people and their interactions and how it leads to the climax of the story. I think it’s interesting how the way people write characters can apply to how one perceives people in real life. I’m currently reading ‘The Divine Comedy’ and I am analyzing the characters and figuring out how their personalities affected the story and how had their traits been different how it would have affected the story. Overall, I’m just trying to absorb as much information and lessons as I can from other people’s experiences.”
