Spooky Attractions

With Halloween being only a few weeks away, there are many fun activities open to the public to celebrate this spooky season. One of these activities include visiting haunted houses; a valued tradition of Halloween.

The most popular haunted house among the citizens of Amarillo is 6th Street Massacre. Located on 3015 SW 6th Ave, this scary attraction brings visitors to a supposedly real haunted building. The price of admission is $20, and the haunted house is open on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the month, and on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31, from 7 P.M. to midnight.

Next on the haunted attractions list is Chainsaw Massacre located at 12851 Interstate 27. This is a “full contact” haunted house meaning the employees are allowed to physically touch the visitors while they explore the house. They are open every Friday and Saturday in October from 8 P.M. to midnight, charging $20 per ticket.

This next haunted house calls itself “Amarillo’s largest Haunted Attraction.” It is known as Amarillo Scaregrounds, and it’s located at 2736 SW 10th Ave. The unique quality about this attraction is that it offers multiple choices upon choosing an activity. These choices include terror ($15), insanitarium ($15), the basement ($20), blackout ($5), and zombie apocalypse ($5). All of these attractions are open on Saturdays from 7 P.M. to midnight, and on Sundays and weekdays from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M.

Last, but definitely not least, is the Van Buren Frightmare. This attraction is located on 816 S Van Buren. The attraction is open every Friday and Saturday (including Oct. 30, and Oct. 31) from 7 P.M. to midnight. General admission is determined at the door.
