After the junior varsity football team suffered their first loss of the season to Palo Duro Sept. 22, they defeated Canadian this past Thursday, 14-7.

After a long win streak, the loss to Palo Duro came as a surprise to some Raider fans.

Nothing really cost us the game,” junior varsity coach Stephen Rodman said. “We just played a very talented team that could move the ball well.”

The scores were neck and neck for almost the entire game.

The game was back and forth between the two teams,” Rodman said. “We feel that if we would have gotten the ball again that we would have scored and changed the outcome. For me, I am extremely proud of the grit that these young men have and we are very proud of how they play the game of football. In football, there are many lessons that can be learned and used to make a person better in life, and our athletes have figured that out.”

And the Raiders grit didn’t seem to be lacking in the following game against Canadian.

We always feel like we could play better,” Rodman said. “Our team is always looking to improve.”

The Raiders will play Dumas this Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at Dumas.
