Randall’s varsity tennis team defeats Vernon to win the 4A Regional Quarter Finals Championship.

The No. 1 ranked Randall tennis team defeated No. 3 Vernon Wednesday 10-5 to clinch the regional quarter final championship. The Raiders, who are now 31-0, will play Andrews at 9 a.m. Oct. 20 at Rose Park in Abilene for the regional semi-finals. The winner of that match will turn around and play again the following morning at 9 a.m. in Abilene for the regional championship against Shallowater or Wichita Falls. If the Raiders can win these final two matches they will secure their ticket to the team tennis state tournament next week in College Station.

UIL 4A Team Tennis Conference Bracket

Currently, only 16 teams remain in UIL’s 4A team tennis competition: Randall, Andrews, Shallowater, Wichita Falls, Academy, Hargrave, Center, Hamshire-Fannett, Panther Creek, Wills Point, Anna, Lindale, Boerne, Zapata, Wimberly and Uvalde.

Randall’s win over Vernon came a day late after the two teams weathered through rain delays yesterday. The two teams began competition in Lubbock and after getting rained out, both teams traveled to Plainview in hopes of finishing there. However, the rain hit Plainview forcing the teams to delay the remaining matches to today in Abilene.

The Raiders are coached by veteran Coach Darby Norman.
