On July 1, it was officially announced that Randall won Lone Star Cup for the second year in a row. Winning the Lone Star honors the success Randall has had in UIL including athletics, academics and fine arts.
“Winning two years in a row feels over the top amazing,” principal Steven Singleton said. “It shows how dedicated our students and teachers are here at Randall.”
Randall had many UIL activities make it to state, getting us a total of 117 points. Randall won by 23 whole points with Canyon coming in second place at 94 points.
“Winning Lone Star Cup two years in a row as a school is amazing,” two-time tennis state champion Kynley Craddock said. “Knowing I played a part in helping bring home the Lone Star Cup my freshman year with a gold medal in tennis and theater and then to turn around and help the school again my sophomore year with a gold medal in tennis again is awesome.”
Students can compete in many different UIL events, not just sports.
“I would tell anyone who competes to give it all you can in practice and at contests,” UIL director Cy Scroggins said. “It’s best to live life with no regrets. Give it everything you have.”
Randall will receive the physical trophy on Sept. 20, which is the same date as the homecoming game.
“It’ll probably been presented around 6:45 p.m.,” Singleton said. “Which will be the pregame for homecoming at Happy State Bank Stadium.”
