Homo sapiens remember the days of nuts and berries
People are willing to go to extreme lengths to get the perfect model body. This is evident not only by the countless bottles of tanning lotion that are sold every winter, but also a new trend that is circling around the health nut realm. As a health blogger, I feel obligated to point out the trends and analyze them for the rest of the world. This new fad, called the Paleo Diet, is the best, hottest, trendiest, and somehow one of the most restrictive of all diets. The Paleo Diet is so unbelievably popular that it has it’s own URL, thepaleodiet.com.
The Paleo Diet in a nutshell is pretending that you’re a hunter and gatherer from the Paleolithic Age and only eating what they would’ve eaten. If you’re like me and you have no idea what humans ate during the Stone Age, the paleodiet.com spells it out for you. Dairy, processed food, and refined sugar are a firm ‘no,’ while fish, eggs, grass-produced meats, and fruits and vegetables are allowed.
The Paleo Diet claims that the problems many health problems we have today, such as gout, cancer, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, did not plague the cavemen a long time ago. Simple logic suggests that if we eat like them, we’ll get their benefits. A nomadic lifestyle is optional for participants.
