Racers get creative
Marathons, 5k runs, and everything in between are becoming more and more common in our generation. People have started running for fun, dressing in crazy clothes and throwing “paint” or mud just to mix it up a little. Running has somehow transformed from a loathed exercise to a favorite pastime to spend with friends.
Upon a little research on the internet, I’ve found that the themes for 5ks, 10ks, or marathons are extremely diverse and incredibly creative. Some would make me downright uncomfortable, such as the Underwear Run, or the Nude Run in Finland. Strangely enough, several runs are designed to simultaneously make you feel sick and get even fatter. These include the Chocolate Race in Canada, the Twinkie Run, or the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Challenge in North Carolina. There is also a Spartan Race, and more popular runs such as the Tough Mudder and the Zombie Run, that prove to be pretty challenging.
Runs and races are beneficial in many ways. They’re good exercise, and can be a fun way to spend time with your friends. Whatever your motive may be, get a group together and run like crazy!
