Students drive recklessly in parking lots
Parking lots are the most dangerous places to drive, yet teenagers think they are a personal race track. Some teens even drive faster in the parking lot than on a road, which is just messed up. A busy parking lot is not the place to do donuts, drive 80 mph, or blindly make turns without even a second thought of what might be on the other side.
This is a problem at Randall; some students seem to not realize the danger of a parking lot. Being a licensed driver myself, I see some ridiculous drivers in Randall’s parking lots, and I get close to having a wreck at least once a day, no joke. No, I’m not a perfect driver, I have had some close calls that were my fault, but I can safely say that I don’t drive over 15 mph in any busy parking lot. I believe that’s how it should be. The unknown factor is too high in a parking lot, what if someone runs out from between two cars? What if someone isn’t paying attention as they are backing up? What if there is a car on the other side of the corner? These are the reasons racing through the aisles of the parking lot is not the best idea.
The drivers at Randall need to be cautious and resist the urge to try to reach a car’s top speed when everyone is trying to leave for lunch. If students do this, there will be fewer accidents, and not everyone will have to fear for their life while walking through the parking lot.
