Amarillo voters say no to new recreation center
Amarillo voters took to the polls yesterday to cast their ballot on whether a multi-million dollar recreation center (the ARC) would be built.
By a 54 to 46 percent vote, the possibility of a new recreation center came to an end. If the proposal had passed, the ARC would have raised property taxes by $25 per $100,000 home value.
According to the Amarillo Globe News, the vice president of the Amarillo National Bank said he was disappointed by the results and that it was a sad day for Amarillo.
