Car quality plumets
As we get further into the technology age, car companies may be focusing more on new technology than car quality.
Technology is important, no doubt, but just because it is more prominent in automobiles than it used to be does not mean the integrity and quality of these vehicles should be declining. Some automakers are just really messing up, to put it lightly. Technology is beginning to take over every aspect of life, but I did not expect to see it interfere with the quality of cars. Unfortunately I think it has and will continue to if some car companies don’t decide to make a change. One of my parent’s cars is a 2013 Cadillac. The other day, the automatic opening trunk stopped working with groceries in it. On top of that, there have already been several integrity issues with this car, and it is brand new. That is not good.
According to AOL Autos, the number of recalls for new cars has skyrocketed. According to their website, the number of recalls for 2012 Chevys is 363,290. That is quite a few, but it isn’t outrageous. The number for 2013 is. So far, there have been 1,039,593 recalls for 2013 Chevys. Although a few of them were just minor recalls such as defective headlights or a faulty A/C, the majority of them were major and potentially dangerous issues like transmission failure or leaking fuel tanks.
With America fully engulfed in the age of technology, being able to rely on a new car is becoming a luxury, and that is just sad. Hopefully car companies will realize this and make a change so we can have nice technology in our vehicles, but still be able to rely on them to get us from point A to B.
