Semester test exemption policy
A new attendance incentive program is being added at Randall High School. In addition to extended lunch, Randall now has a semester test exemption policy.
To be exempt from a class’s semester test, a student must have a 70 or above average and have perfect attendance for the class, or a student has to be making an 80 or above average and can only have 3 absences.
“I love the program,” Principal Steve Williams said. “It was added to try to improve attendance.”
Williams said that some people think exempting students from semester tests will hurt them in college, but experience has shown it doesn’t affect a student’s performance in college.
“The program worked great before,” said Williams. “I hope it works as well as last time.”
The program starts the day a student enrolls, so students that enroll later in the year will still be allowed to participate.
“I am hopeful that our attendance will improve, thus student success will improve,” Williams said.
