Homecoming Vibes
As a longtime member of student council I can wholeheartedly express the frustration we go through during homecoming week as many fellow students complain about how “lame” Randall is as a school during homecoming week, and what many kids seem to overlook is how the outcome of your school spirit experience comes from your mindset. If you automatically assume your experience is going to be bad it might just be. Here are a few tips to avoid this state of mind.
Get involved in an school organization like student council or key club. Student council is a student based organization that Randall offers, and what most students don’t understand is that it’s the best way to have a voice while attending Randall. Events like homecoming week is something student council puts a tremendous amount of time, and effort into. Some of the things student council helps out with is decorating the school with homecoming posters, coming up with and promoting the dress up days, and probably the most recognized event is decorating the gym with copious amounts of balloons, and streamers.
Participate in the dress up days. Many of the dress up days do not require you to go out, and buy something new or much thought. Typically a dress up day is something along the lines of crazy hair day, or dress like your favorite character day. Teachers will then calculate how many students in specific grade levels participate, and those points go into the overall spirit points for homecoming week.
Go to the Tuesday night volleyball, and the Friday night football game. The homecoming parade that takes place the week of homecoming, and the two hour school pep rally where Raiders are encouraged to dress their best for the many guests that attend.
The most important out of all of these is to simply have fun. Whether you’re participating in a sporting event, or don’t even know a thing about sports having fun is the best way to have a successful homecoming week. Just grab a group of friends, and jump right into homecoming week with your best Raider spirit.
