Snack Pak 4 Kids
Snack Pak 4 Kids is a nonprofit organization that sends students, who may not be able to be able to get food otherwise, home with a bag of snacks such as Pop-tarts, sunflower seeds, pudding, cereal, etc. on the weekends.
Once a month the Randall High School Key Club goes to the Snack Pak 4 Kids location to volunteer. The members unpack the snacks from cardboard boxes, place them in plastic totes, and then sets them on tables to make an assembly line. A different member stands on either side of the table in front of each tote, and one at each end of the table, one to pass the plastic sacks, and count how many bags are passed down. Normally, the Randall High School Key Club packs at least 100 bags each time they volunteer.
“I feel good about giving back to my community,” junior Fatimah Dixon said. “However, I do not like the cuts and scrapes I get from opening the boxes.”
Snack Pak 4 kids is a great organization, and by volunteering, the Key Club members get to help other students from Randall High School, and other schools in the area.
“What I enjoy about Snack Pak the most is that I am making an impact on someone’s life,” junior Triston Dees said. “Knowing that I am part of keeping children fed is one of the best feelings ever.”
