Last Saturday, the band performed at the Area marching contest in Odessa. After placing 8th in the High Plains Marching Competition on Oct. 15, the band advanced to the next competition which determined which bands would advance to State. Finishing 13 out of 25 bands, the band did not advance; however, this was their best showing at the Area contest since 2003.

Band director Ginger Denney said the band members knew they had performed as well as they could. “These kids felt it,” Denney said. “There were lots of tears this weekend-some were mine. We were disappointed in the outcome but there is not a feeling of defeat. We left nothing behind this season.”
