As we progress further into the technology age, the gadgets in cars get more advanced.

When the first automobile was invented, its sole purpose was to get the driver from point A to point B faster than walking or by horse-drawn carriage. The first car didn’t even have a radio, or power steering; just an engine, a couple seats, and four wheels. But back in those days, that was an incredible achievement.

As time went on, the automobile’s purpose changed. In addition to getting the driver around town, it was also about offering a convenient, smooth drive. This ushered in the era of technological assistance in vehicles. Power steering was invented, along with electronically assisted brakes, and many others. Don’t get me wrong, these are all very important inventions that have proved to be successful and helpful. But how far is too far?

With the dawn of the 21st century and the technology age, car companies started to integrate some new gadgets into their vehicles. Small screens to display a radio station got larger, and eventually turned into touch screens and navigation systems. Now there are several vehicles that not only have navigation systems and Pandora radio in them, but have the option to browse the internet on the screen. In my opinion, that is just an accident waiting to happen.

I understand that everyone is trying to keep up with this constantly advancing technology age, but putting an internet browser in a car is not a good idea. I have a feeling after a few serious head-on-collisions due to people browsing the internet while driving, we will see less of this dangerous technology in vehicles.
