Thai Koon has made another addition to the abundant pool of Thai food restaurants in the Amarillo area. This one, however, is close enough to school to make a quick lunch spot for those traveling off-campus. I caught the new business on a slow day. Besides my party, there were only two other occupied tables. The service was fast enough for me to finish my meal and still have a little downtime before making it back to school well before the 1:06p.m. bell.
I ordered the sesame chicken off the lunch menu, although it would not have hurt my budget to get another entrée. The rice was a little bland but altogether the meal resembled the lunches Pattaya offers on its menu with deep fried chicken, rice, dipping sauce of choice and an eggroll. The only item on the lunch menu that didn’t include the deep-fried chicken was the beef and broccoli, which was a slight disappointment to the health freak in me, but overall the food was hot on my plate and tasted great. At only $5.75 and about five minutes away from school, Thai Koon provided an easy Thai food fix without having to call in and drive all the way to Pattaya and potentially be late back at school.
