‘Among Us’: The New Hit Game Gains Popularity at Randall

Students play “Among Us” in the Randall Commons.

“That’s sus.”
“Red vented!”
“Finish your tasks.”
These are all phrases that you have probably have heard everyone around you saying, and it’s all because of the new hit game “Among Us”.

“Among Us” is an online multiplayer game that has taken over the gaming world. It can be played with friends, family and even strangers. Players join in groups of between four and 10 players either online, through their local Wi-Fi connection, but you can also play with people you don’t know.

How to play: Players can either be a crewmate or an imposter. Crewmates perform tasks on the ship, while one player is an impostor out to eliminate everyone. It’s up to the rest of the group to determine who the imposter is through meetings that can be called once a body is found or by using the emergency meeting button. The impostor can win by either eliminating everyone or convincing everyone else that they are not the imposter, and tricking the crewmates into voting out their fellow crewmates.

“Among Us” was actually released in 2018, but it just recently blew up because of popularity on TikTok and other social media. I personally downloaded the game because I saw a lot of my friends and classmates playing the game at school. I have loved the game because of all the reactions and emotions that go with it, ranging from the adrenaline you get when you’re an imposter and having to act as if you’re a crewmate to the curiosity you get when you’re the crewmate trying to figure out the imposters from the rest.

Overall I would recommend this game for anyone because each game is so different from the last; therefore, it’s continuously fun and exciting.
