Espresso at home made easy: The Barista Touch by Breville

Espresso drinking is a great way to start off any day, and if you’re an at-home barista like me, you know that a quality machine mixed in with quality ingredients makes a very impressive and exclusive drink! The Barista Touch by Breville is no exception to that testament, equipped with quality machine parts and a stunning look, this machine is sure to please anyone who gets to use this daily. My first impressions when unboxing this new espresso machine was how it looked, the nice stainless steel, encasing the whole machine, creates a nice glimmer in the nice writing, but like my parents said, “This is the Cadillac of commercial-grade machines!”

with the exception that is not manufactured in the United States, but rather in Australia. Right off the back, you will be greeted by the built-in touch screen, which controls your main functions such as grinding, extraction, and frothing. Everything you could possibly need to change is right here on the built on-screen, with an addable personal setting feature that allows you to keep your desired settings under your very own name, (don’t mind if I have my own personal name saved as – POTUS!) you can then wake up to the satisfying view of seeing your very own name, with the settings set to make your coffee exactly as you want it!

“If you love espresso but need to simplify the process this machine is for you!”

This machine is not like any particular machine you may find in the commercial market, it is truly one of its kind to live up to the testament of a 3 second water heat time. By the time you turn on the button, look away and look back, you can rest assured that your day is ready to begin. You can customize your settings not only by the name your settings go by but to the exact measure of the grind size, 30 grind sizes to be exact, the built-in grinder, grind duration time, the extraction time in seconds, the milk frothing temperature, and the froth level. It would be foolish for me not to mention that this very particular machine uses an auto frothing option, using ahead of its time technology to produce microfoam that allows you to make latte art, (I’d like to see the coffee pot do that!). The grinder uses conceal burs to get the most precise grind that you desire, including an all in one, grind hopper to store and keep your whole beans fresh, the grinder itself, and the extraction port with one push in with the portafilter!

Breville

Breville spared no expense in assuring that the quality of all the accessories did not fail the majesty of the machine itself. Out of the box, this includes all you need to get started, the portafilter that not only comes with two extraction baskets, but they were compelled to include four! They included a set of non-pressurized baskets that are for those who are well versed in the art of espresso-making, as well as a set of pressurized baskets for those, like myself, who are not perfectionist, to ensure you still get a great shot! The stainless steel milk pitcher was made with quality and latte art envisioned, the tip has a nice defined point in order to be precise when making that crucial pour. Something I personally have not seen was the included water filter that assures the user can easily fill it with tap water while still sparing the machine from the damage, but as a rule of thumb, I would suggest using distilled water! However, the most striking tool was the coffee shop inspired and grade portafilter.

This large 54mm portafilter with two spouts to increase crema ratio was incredibly useful and I have to say the most well thought out portafilter yet! To go with that, the included tamp which consistently hides underneath the power button, by a magnet, which makes the process easy and quick to use. The stainless steel cases, removable drip tray makes sure that your sink stays empty of coffee grinds, integrating a dry coffee separator try and below that the water drip tray, it even has an “Empty me” float that rises when the tray is full! Where are you going to put all of those baskets and the other cleaning tools? Behind the drip tray, a nice box can secretly hide behind the tray and pulls out once you get that tray out.

It is truly safe to say that Breville thought about everything when making this espresso machine, and from personal experience, the coffee is a testament to the quality of the materials used! If you are looking for a next-level or entry beginning espresso machine, this is the one, it will not disappoint!
