Students qualify for State in UIL Theatrical Design in the Hair and Makeup Category

Senior Seth Lucero and junior Emery Young participated at the state level in UIL’s Theatrical Design contest. Both Lucero and Young competed in the Hair and Makeup Category. For this category, students must read and analyze a play then create designs for that play. The difficult aspect is that the students also must incorporate a challenge, which is chosen by UIL, into the prompt. Finally, they must apply their designs and write a paper justifying and defending their choices with support from the script of the chosen show.
“I am incredibly proud of the progress that these two students have made in the last two years with this competition,” Theatre teacher Emmy Estes said.
Lucero and Young submitted their final designs on April 23 and should have the finalized results by May 10.
