Hero Factory or BIONICLE?
Who was better, Bionicle or Hero Factory?
The Bionicle Lego sets were the number 1 Lego theme in 2003 and 2006; however, after they started losing popularity they were cut and replaced with Hero Factory sets. Both Bionicle and Hero Factory got TV shows during their respective time periods. Bionicle Lego sets first appeared in 2001 and were meant for children between the ages of 8 and 16. After gaining popularity in 2001, Bionicle got its own show. The show concluded in 2010 after the actual Lego sets were discontinued in late 2009. It was started up again but then finally put down in 2016. The reason for the shut down of Bionicle was the low sales and lack of new consumer interest brought on by the decade long backstory and lore of Bionicle. The most popular of the Bionicle sets was Onua from 2016. After Bionicle was cancelled for the first time in 2009, Hero Factory started on September of 2010. Hero Factory only lasted five years and was discontinued after losing popularity just like the Bionicle sets. Both Hero Factory and Bionicle used primarily technic pieces. The Hero Factory sets were about twice the size of the standard Lego mini figure and had much more range of motion. The Bionicle Lego sets were massive, more complex and better detailed. The Bionicle sets seemed to be better than the Hero Factory sets in every aspect which is why they lasted 16 years, triple the amount of time Hero Factory was around. The most popular Hero Factory set was Speeda Demon, having a motor cycle and four arms. Although Hero Factory was made to be Bionicle’s successor and was designed by the same people, there is no connection between the other in terms of story.
