Yesterday, 5 time Ranger outfielder Josh Hamilton signed a 5 year, $125 million dollar deal with Texas’ AL West rivals, the Anaheim Angels. But that’s not even the worst part.
The Rangers were never given a chance to counteract the offer. They were just told that Hamilton was no longer available.
This signing came as a surprise, to fans, players, and of course the Rangers staff. Especially because the Angels reportedly said they were not looking to spend too much this off season—at least not on a position player. But it isn’t that shocking seeing as the same thing happened when they signed Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson last season.
The Rangers on the other hand, have picked up an array of young pitchers over the last few years, but have not added to their offensive game so far.
