Anxiety is common for people of all ages but in teens, the stress of school, work, relationships, physical appearances, etc. can be contributing factors.

Some people who have an anxiety disorder say it is difficult to pinpoint what triggers some strange emotions, such as worries and sensations.  Studies show that an anxiety attack can be triggered by stress, but can also be brought on by things such as a bad childhood, trauma and PTSD. It is recommended who suspects that they have an anxiety disorder seek medical attention or talk with somebody you trust about the way you are feeling.

I’ve had to go through a lot of obstacles in life, but I got the right help and just learned to relax sometimes.

“Most of my anxiety is from school but also it comes from previous trauma in my life,” junior Journey Bell said. “I’ve had to go through a lot of obstacles in life, but I got the right help and just learned to relax sometimes.”

Treatment for anxiety disorders can consist of therapy, self-care and medications. Some teens may not even know they have anxiety until something stressful happens and they experience the symptoms such as behavioral issues, lack of concentration, racing thoughts, excessive worry, fear, or depression. Studies show that most anxiety disorders respond well to therapy in a relatively short amount of time, most of the time it just takes longer for some to realize they might have an anxiety disorder.

“I know if I just focus on myself sometimes I can overcome my anxiety and anything I set my mind to,” junior Averiann Hulen said.
