“My passion in life is to be an example to others, and have people want to follow in my footsteps,” Blake Nurek said. “I want the people around me to strive for greatness like what I try to do every day. I want to be a light in the dark place we live in today.”

When asked about his plans after college Blake said “I want to attend Clarendon College for their RFO (Ranch and Field Operation) program, and after I graduate, to move back to Amarillo and join the fire academy. I want to pursue a career as a firefighter, but maybe manage and own my own head of cattle on the side to keep me busy on the days off.”

When asked how he discovered his passion Blake said, “I’ve always wanted to be a firefighter ever since I was a kid saw what they do in the community and how they set a high standard. My dad has always pushed me to follow what I’m most passionate about. I think I’ll be able to accomplish these goals by listening to others, taking their advice, and not believing that your way is the only way. You never know, it might work better in the long run.”
