Freshman Dezaray Saldana picked up a paint brush two years ago. Since that time, she has developed a love for creating art.

“I love being able to put my thoughts and visions on to canvas,” Dezaray said. “It is a great escape from life.”

Dezaray loves to paint in her free time to give herself a way to reflect on her thoughts. She said it has become her favorite way to end the week or maybe even the day.

“It allows me to clear my mind,” Dezaray said. “(Art) is a beautiful way to express my thoughts and feelings.”

Dezaray has also found that painting is a great way to connect with her family and friends.

“It is a great way to bond with my family,” Dezaray said. “It gives us a reason to hang out.”
